What Makes Us Unique
Reinvent Ministries
is about Transformation.
Transformation is
about becoming new and unprecedented: a new creation.
Transformation is God's work
[2 Cor 5:17]. Rather than improving your thinking, transformation
is about renewing minds. This is done by achieving
fundamental shifts in how you think, perceive, react,
and behave. This is far different than simply addressing
what people say they believe.
Instead of simply learning
truths, transformation is about becoming true.
This can only happen as you invite God's Spirit to work
within at a core level. For this reason our trainings, seminars,
and workshops provide a practical experiential format whereby
the whole person (mind, will, emotions, and spirit) is engaged.
This distinguishes ours from formats that are limited to
detached intellectual participation.
Transformation
is different than personal growth or learning.
Our culture applauds learning believing that understanding
leads to change. The way to this understanding is by acquiring
knowledge or by attaining "how to" formulas.
Consequently, most training is focused on dispensing
knowledge and telling people what to do. This approach dominates
books, teachings, lectures, retreats, and seminars offered
by educators, businesses, and churches, and the results
are less than advertised. This approach reveals the influence
of Greek thought on our Western culture. Reinvent Ministries
is more closely aligned with the Hebrew mindset, best represented
by Jesus.
Our approach to transformation
can be explained by contrasting the Greek and Hebrew mindsets.
Greek schools of thought prize conceptual learning as the
way to acquire knowledge and effect change. In this approach,
if you want to know about something you learn by reading,
talking, studying, and thinking about it. If you want to
know about someone you exchange conversation and thoughts
and concepts and express feelings with them.
The Hebrew approach emphasizes
living and experiencing knowledge and
change. This can be seen by Christ's example. Jesus'
teachings were driven home by actual life experiences. He
didn't simply teach His disciples "how to"
follow Him. He engaged them in real life scenarios whereby
He evidenced His beliefs and practices and provided them
with opportunities to do the same. This kind of "learning"
is particularly effective because it involves the whole
person as opposed to a detached mental process such as lecture
or reading. Imagine attempting to learn to ride a bike by
reading a how-to book or watching a video as opposed to
practicing on a bike, failing, adjusting, and going again.
Once you acquire something in this "experiential"
manner, it is yours in a way that mental knowledge alone
cannot deliver.
For this reason, the
orientation of our trainings, seminars, and workshops employ
experiential activities.
The learning environment
utilizes brilliantly designed life similes that require
participation at a level beyond detached mental involvement.
From these activities participants derive powerful insights
about their beliefs and what gets in the way. This allows
participants to shift how they think, choose and act. New
insights allow for new choices and lead to new different
outcomes. When a shift is made at this whole-person level
the results are deep and lasting.
What distinguishes Reinvent
Ministries from purveyors of other "experiential"
education offerings is the essential interplay in these
training components:
- Brief lecturettes focused
on key distinctions relevant to dramatic transformation
and change
- Interactive exercises designed
to reveal blind spots and generate new awarenesses
- Multiple opportunities to
share and reflect on what is being experienced and discovered
- Consistent focus on noticing
ones impact on others in a fresh and new light
These components combine to create new clarity regarding one's
vision and multiple opportunities to practice it in real time.
